Indications:
Stanozolol is used in the treatment of hereditary angioedema that may induce episodes of swelling of the face, extremities, genitals, bowel wall, and throat. Stanozolol may decrease the frequency and severity of these attacks.
Stanozolol may also be used for purposes other than those listed here.
Contra- indications:
This drug is not indicated in case of hypersensitivity to Stanozolol, pregnancy and lactation, carcinoma of prostate tumors in male hormone dependent, active hypercalcemia, and liver failure.
Administration:
The optimal dose for adults is 10-20 mg / day. A maintenance dose is 5-10 mg / day.
To minimize the attendance and severity of attacks of hereditary angioedema the dose is individually adapted depending on the clinical response. A first dose is associated with 2 mg 3 times per day.
Medical action:
Stanozolol is a structural prototype of testosterone that stimulates collagen production and decreases the anti-anabolic action of cortisone. This drug reduces fibrin deposition. It adjusts the formation of kinin or kinin-like factors which may be reported as oedema and swelling seen in hereditary angioedema.
Precautions:
If there are patients with liver disease, it is indicated to monitor the rates of cholestasis. Patients that are responsive to collateral phenomena endocrine or electrolyte should be monitored periodically during prolonged therapy. Persons that have lactose intolerance may have diarrhea, although the amount presented as an excipient in tablets is probably not enough to cause symptoms. Stanozolol must be used with caution and under rigorous medical monitoring for patients with heart failure, hypertension, epilepsy, migraine, diabetes, metastatic bone, dysmenorrhea, dyslipidemia, coagulation disorders and porphyria.
Side effects:
Stanozolol side effects are generally rare, moderately large and unavoidable in some cases. During the treatment Stanozolol described adverse effects on the liver (peliosis hepatic and liver tumors) and cholestatic jaundice. In general, these symptoms disappear when the treatment is stopped.
There were also cases of diarrhea, nausea / vomiting, excitement, insomnia, virilization, hirsutism, hypertrophy of the clitoris, acne, inhibition of testicular function with oligospermia and sodium retention, potassium, chloride and water.
Over dosage:
In case of overdose of this drug contact an emergency room or poison control center for advice. Symptoms of Stanozolol overdose are not established.
